Aax on Windows

Aax on Windows

Soooo.... after a lot of fiddling about. I've got AAX done.

For the time being it is on Mac only.

I figured this may be a question as to why I haven't done this on Windows as well?

In releasing software you need to do something called codesigning - this is where you tell the manufacturer of the operating system that you're not making viruses. With Mac OS it's required so Apple offers a developer programme as a means to get certificates. With Windows, it is not a requirement for vst, but it is for aax. You have to, as far as I can tell, buy a third party certificate. I looked into it and it's expensive. I've tried to research what demand there is aax on windows for this from my mailing list, with no reply.

I'm not saying there's no demand for it, but I asked and no one replied so I've made the decision at this time it doesn't make sense for me to invest that amount in that place needed to buy a ev certificate that works with windows.

Every penny I make is put back into making instruments and keeping this going - I feel there's a misconception with plugins that everyone making them is making millions, that currently isn't the case and at this point I can't afford to just spend that amount if I'm not certain of a return. I've no doubt it'll come at some point, I hope you can understand.

If you are a windows aax user and would like to see that

  1. Please sign up to the mailing list and send me an email, if I get a few requests it's easier to look into adding aax on windows.
  2. I've had a lot of users successfully use Blue Cats Patchwork: https://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/Product_PatchWork/
