In Summer Ben from 'Wayside & Woodland' asked me if I had any tracks for an upcoming compilation - I had one thing. A track called 'More Drums'
I'd made it in August 2023 exclusively using and for my next plugin release: Dream Kit: Zenith
It started out as a cover of the Tim Hecker track 'No Drums'.
The plugin is a drum synth. The way I'm explaining it: Imagine we're in a parallel universe where drums are synths.
The different drum performances in the instrument act like the waveforms in the synth, it's sort of straddling sound design, wavetable(ish), granular(ish), completely sample based, all tuned, it's own thing really.
I've been working on it for 4 very long years, thinking about it for at least a decade...
It will be out in weeks rather than months - I'm essentially finalising all of the legal bits and bobs that comes with being a responsible maker of software/business owner... I digress.
I love the instrument and as it's made completely from drums, I thought it was funny to have a go at track called 'No Drums', but it isn't really a cover, more I used 'No Drums' as a jumping off point.
Anyway, I totally forgot I'd sent it to Ben and now the compilation is out: Landnotes 1
The track can act as a demo for it, every sound and effect is from the instrument.
I realise it's weird to release a demo for a plugin that isn't released yet... but hopefully it'll whet the appetites for it.
Speak soon!
